MMA is a sport based on opportunity and split second decision making. The breakdowns that we try to focus on here will be looking at stylistic differences between fighters and how they will impact the card. Although the breakdowns won't usually be long, they'll have info on fighter strengths and weaknesses and how we expect them to be exploited. Towards the end of the article there will be the five best bets on the slate for you to tail!
Not a great fight card, but there are some diamonds in the rough in this card. Check the article for the where you can go to find those diamonds.
All my information is from https://fightodds.io/ and https://paydirtdfs.com/mma-ranks-and-leverage-model/
Ronnie Lawrence (Wrestler) vs Saidyokub Kakharamonov (Striker)
This one will be interesting. Lawrence is going to try to take down, but Saidyokub is quite good at defending the takedown. Look for Saidyokub to defend takedowns and pick him apart on the feet.
Kakharamonov +100
Kennedy Nzechukwu (Striker) vs Karl Roberson (Striker)
I love me some Kennedy, so some bias here. I do think he is the stronger fighter, so hopefully that translates to a KO win.
Nzechukwu -145
David Onama (Striker) vs Garrett Armfield (Striker/Grappler)
Not going to write much here. Don’t think this will be close. Onama is going to be the bigger and better fighter in there.
Cody Brundage (Wrestler) vs Tresean Gore (Striker)
Gore looked really good in TUF, but lost the final to a very good fighter. He is the superior striker, while Brundage is going to look to take him down. Gore is a good defender of takedowns, so I think he has a chance of finishing this one.
Antonina Shevchenko (Striker) vs Cortney Casey (Striker/Grappler)
Should be a nice little striking match. I give the edge to Shevchenko on the feet. If Casey can get her to the ground, we may be looking at a different ending, but I don’t see it happening.
Aiemann Zahabi (Well Rounded) vs Ricky Turcios (Striker/Wrestler)
I loveeee Ricky. Man is just a wild man and always pushes the pace. On the other hand, Zahabi likes to slow it down and fight at his own pace. Will be interesting to see who's fighting style wins here.
Michael Johnson (Striker/Wrestler) vs Jamie Mullarkey (Striker/Wrestler)
You always have the chance Michael will knock you out, but Jamie is one of the ones that is just tough as nails. I think he tries to wrestle and can do it pretty easily.
Cynthia Calvillo (Grappler) vs Nina Nunes (Striker)
This one is a true toss up for me. I could see it going either way. Both girls aren’t great and have holes in their game. The model has them very close as well.
Jared Vanderaa (Striker) vs Chase Sherman (Striker)
Two shitty heavyweight strikers with one being more shitty. Vanderaa wins this.
Vanderaa -210
Said Nurmagomedov (Striker/Grappler) vs Douglas Silva de Andrade (Striker)
I really really like Douglas. It sucks he has to run into Said. Said can be picked apart striking though. If Douglas can keep this standing, we may see a little upset.
Caio Borralho (Striker) vs Armen Petrosyan (Striker)
I think a lot of people will be on Caio here, but I really like Armen. He has some really good kickboxing and I think he wins it, if he can keep this standing.
Petrosyan +190
Rafael dos Anjos (Well Rounded) vs Rafael Fiziev (Striker)
Best fight of the night by far. I love some RDA here. Fiziev hasn’t faced a challenge like RDA yet. One thing RDA does is win and he knows how to win. He will be pressuring him nonstop and not let him get shots in like he normally does. Give me another dog.
Dos Anjos +175
